The reason why I do not make posts on the blog is not due to the laziness of me but for the lack of interest in the subject matter. I have sent over 70 good email messages to 70 different re-enactment groups and got no replies. That’s right ZERO replies.

I have decided to start a blog about the historical and accurate recreation of Civil War reenactments. I believe that there are many people interested not only in the history of the American Civil War, but for those who choose to portray a soldier who has experienced the genuine 19^th century soldier. This is a chance for people to come together and write about their love and experiences reenacting on the field. This is a chance for people who do not reenact to ask questions and make comments of their experiences watching a battle portraying the Civil War.

The American Civil War was a pivotal moment in our grand history. It was the culmination of the turmoil that the government and citizens brought on and generated the start of this deadly war. The war lasted for over four years and took the lives of more American soldiers than all the other wars the United States had endured. By the end, the country was changed forever, even by its definition. Before the war the United States ‘are’, to the United States ‘is’.

Many groups of people have decided to portray the many battles that took place in the Civil War. They dedicate themselves to give accounts, to the public, the authenticity of the soldier, what he wore, what he carried and how he thought. They do not look to be paid, but to receive the gratitude from the spectators who witness their reenactment. This blog is a place for reenactors to voice their experiences on/off the battle as-well-as their desire to share the history of the soldier, and unit they serve. This blog is also open for those who love to watch the men (and women) who sacrifice their weekend to bring to the audience their personification of those who served in the American Civil War.
